The Method

Toast the bread to deeply golden — you want enough crunch to support a generous topping.

Smear each slice with a very thin layer of Vegemite. Less is more.

Halve the avocado, scoop into a small bowl, add lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mash with a fork — chunky, not paste.

Pile the avocado high onto the toast. Finish with chilli flakes and a final pinch of salt.
